Learning Telecommunications Early
My first real corporate gig was with Telecom New Zealand managing the upgrade of corporate phone systems for Department of Corrections.
That led to helping merge two banking networks Westpac and Trust Bank, which led to pre-sales project work for ANZ Banking Group, New Zealand Defence Force and the digitisation of TAB Racing.
In five years, I learnt from some amazingly talented salespeople and engineers about how to digital enterprise grade business processes.
It set the groundwork for building Europe’s Internet.
I always tried to look older because I was just 20 years old when I started at Telecom. Hilarious!
